Shifting 1 to 4 in manual

Hello Camaro Nation:

Just got me a 2010 2SS with V8 6-speed manual. Very exciting!! What is the purpose of the procedure to sometimes shift directly from 1st to 4th? Is it for fuel economy? I've read the owners manual but other than fuel economy, it doesn't shed much light on the issue. Any insight or tips out there?

Chuck

That is pretty much the only real reason for the skip-shift in the t-56 transmissions (for fuel mileage). There really is no other reason since it does 0 for performance (and actually takes away from it when skipping gears).

Likely the most disabled feature in 4th gens right along with emissions equipment.

Skip Shift Eliminator

First mod I made on my car was to install the skip shift eliminator. I'm sure that thirteen years later, my main and rod bearings are thanking me for it.
