Hey all. Let me start by saying sorry for the long first post.
I am looking at a 95 z28 with a 6 spd, leather and t tops. Only has 85k on it and needs a good interior clean up. Outside is in very good shape with a few little dents in the 1/4. Asking price is 2500 but can probably ****** it up for 2000.
The only problem is that the antifreeze is low, real low and the heat doesnt blow hot. He said the head gaskets were replaced at 69k which seems kind of low to me. heck, the old ones are in the trunk still. I know the car wasnt babied as it is owned by a 20 year old who took it off the road due to the glove box full of tickets and it needs tires.
I jumpstarted it and it fired right up with no noises and no smoke. Ran very smooth and the ac even worked. Had it running for about 20 minutes and the temp gauge creeped up to just about the middle of the gauge. The check engine light also came on as well as the fans after being on for a few minutes.
I just dont want to buy this and then get slammed with the good old head gasket problem. I have done these waterpumps before, but am a little nervous about being able to get to anything under the hood of this thing such as the heater core. The car has been in the same spot for a month and there are no puddles or signs of any leaks.
I have a 95 Impala with the same motor (stock motor with the iron heads) and at 164k it runs great and is original. Would love to have the 6 spd in the Impala.
I appreciate any guidance from you guys.

If the coolant is real low, the heater will not blow hot.

If it were me I would invest in some antifreeze and see if the heater works. Think of it as a cost of doing business.

Welcome to the board.
