Newbie

Hey guys,
I'm new to the site, but have been listening to the podcast since the Summer. I am in LOVE with the Camaro's! As i'm sure everyone on here is! I have two questions.
1. I have heard people complain that the Camaro design has come from Australia. Is this true?
2. How does the Camaro compare to a Dodge Challenger?

Thanks
Matt

Re: Newbie

Hi Matt! Welcome aboard and thanks for listening to the show.

1 - The Camaro was designed by GM folks right here in the US. There was some engineering work done with Holden of Australia, but never heard anyone complain about this.

2 - I've never driven a Challenger myself, so I really can't give you a real world comparison personally. There are lots of magazines that have done comparison testing with Challenger, Mustang, and Camaro. Just do a search here for links, or google it.

Re: Newbie

Welcome to the site. I have no clue about down under but I can tell you the "feel" of a Challenger is more of a sedan and the ride is more like an older traditional car (not a hot rod) that is suitable for long highway trips. The Camaro will be (depending on models) more powerful, quicker, better in the corners, and more exciting to drive. That said, a buddy of mine (who is 65 years old) bought a Challenger because he commutes from Maine to NYC a couple of times each month and he wanted something less aggressive and softer than the Camaro with a bit more room in the back, because he carries a lot of gear and has a questionable back but still wanted something with power and good looks. If he didn't have to make such long trips, and if he was 30 years younger, he would have bought the Camaro.

Re: Newbie

Wow, thanks for all the welcomes and answers! I got to sit in a Challenger. I do agree that it feels "softer" all i got to do was sit No starting it up, and no test drive maybe next time. I still have yet to sit/hear/drive a Camaro. Dido for a Mustang, although i did hear a mustang in NC this past summer. Let's just say it sounded like a hybrid! I do remember hearing the Podcast that you guys talked about the Mustang vs. Camaro.
(Tip for the show!) I would love to hear a podcast comparing the Camaro, Challenger, AND Mustang! I guess that means Chris and Jason have to go and drive a Challenger! haha

Re: Newbie

There have been all kinds of comparisons between all three of those and many other cars. A quick search of the Automotive News forum should be able to help you a lot.
