Hello all! I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a young female who owns a 95 z28 camaro. I am going to try to learn how to work on it on my own since every mechanic I have taken it to has said dont bring your car back to me. I live in north Florida if anyone is able to assist me. I dont have many tools but between my brothers, fathers, and car friends I should be able to get my hands on most things. I dont have a second car so anything I do to my car has be fixed asap so I can still drive it to work. I unfortunately work a part time job so money is also an issue for me.

Now about my car... About three years ago my brother was a "smart guy" and decided to wash the engine with water... I could have killed him... Ever since that my distributor/opti-spark has had tons of issues. I believe it has been replaced times now. I have an oil leak. My windows dont go down (which is the reason I found this site). No radio (not a huge deal). a starting issue which is hard to explain. And the shocks on the hood dont work so its hard to work under the hood if you dont have a stick to hold it up. I plan on fixing the windows and the shocks first since those are easier and wont harm the actual mechanics of the car. After that I will try to learn how to do more as I go. I look forward to hearing back from some of you and meeting more of you. Have a nice day

Welcome to the site. There is a wealth of information in the various tech areas. The windows and hood do not seem like significant issues individually. The opti is always an issue, especially in regards to the water pump and sealing everything up tight.

As for any oil leak, you need to locate the source in order to fix it. Probably a good wipe down of the areas where oil is appearing, then run the car a bit and check again might help isolate it.

Awesome thank you very much! I know my first two things I plan on fixing aren't a huge deal but for me to fix them by myself would be a major accomplishment! I look forward to at least trying to start small then move forward. The last mechanic who worked on my car found the leak it is just in a hard to reach spot. But what isn't in these cars.
