What's up everyone? I just bought a new 2002 Z28 so I thought I should join something like this as I have some plans for this car in the future.

A little about me..
From Montana, but stationed here in southern Cali. I'm an active duty Marine, and I work a **** ton but like to play on the weekends haha. Always wanted a camaro, and now my dream finally came true.

A little about my car...
Black 2002 Z28 camaro. blacked out taillights, hid headlights, magnaflow exhaust, ls6 air intake, horst short shifter, 6 speed clutch, tinted windows 117k miles...

What I want to do to my car...
First off I want to get a ram intake hood, like the SS camaro has. Later on I want to switch out the exhaust with the dual chromed magnaflow exhaust. I like the look of it better. I want to put in a new cd player deck eventually along with speakers, amp, etc.

I'm not sure the first thing to do honestly. I feel like I need to take it to a mechanic and have them look it over, change the fluids, etc. Is there any big time maintenance that has to be done at or around 115k miles? As you can see, I'm pretty noobish when it comes to this car. I joined this site to educate myself about my car haha.

Well, I look forward to posting on here some more. Thanks for everyone's support and I'll see ya around!

If you are not comfortable going through the vehicle in detail yourself, it is money well spent to have a competent mechanic check it out. It isn't just the mileage, but the years that create issues in any vehicle. Wiring tends to become brittle with age (for example) so having someone really check things out is a good starting point.

Welcome to the site, congratulations on the car, and I urge you to read through the tech areas to see what other have done to help you figure out the sequence of changes you want to make.

Welcome to the site. I notice you said you bought a new 2002 Z28? Lol, it's 10 years old, far from new. You should post up some pictures of it, would very much like to see the condition of it.

Sounds like your modification plan is pretty modest and very doable. If you already have a magnaflow exhaust, all you would need to do is add the tips from the sounds of what you want. Tips are $100-$200, don't need to buy a whole new exhaust system, unless you want something completely different.

you can buy a carbon fiber Camaro SS replica hood from PFYC - PartsForYourCar.com - Performance Parts and Accessories for Your Late Model Vehicle. They are right around $500, plus $100 or so for shipping. Just take into account cost for paint, cost for blending the paint, cost for installation. I'd guess it to be a little over $1,000 for the hood when it's all said and done.

I don't know much about the audio side of the car. I'd just walk into a best buy and talk to the technicians there.

Again, welcome to the site.

A tune up would go a long way at ~120k miles. Plugs/wires, fuel filter, etc.

Flushing the fluids would be a great idea if they've never been done (or you don't know when/if they've been done): transmission, differential, coolant, etc.

haha yeah yeah i did say new 2002 camaro, you know what i mean. but thanks those links are definitely helpful. i just noticed today that the window tint is getting a little old so that's also no my to do list, as well as change out the shocks. they're getting a little soft.

and thanks for the heads up about the tips. i'll definitely look into those.

but first and foremost, as 6spdlt1z said, gotta get that tune up. the previous owner didn't have much as far as receipts for all the oil changes etc.

pictures coming up soon!
