New 4th Gen Owner from Long Island

Hi all. Just picked up a '96 Z28 locally. I've been a fan of Camaros since the age of 4, when my cool aunt pulled in our driveway in her brand new 1978 coupe. It was love at first sight for me. Fast forward 14 years, to 1992 and my first car in high school was a '78 Camaro which I loved and drove the hell out of. I've had a couple of other 2nd gens over the years, and I am currently restoring an '80 Z28 that's been in paint jail for longer than I'd hoped. So...being a fan of all things Camaro, I always browse FB Marketplace, Craigslist, etc., and this black 96 popped up for $2k. It has 110k miles, has a recently rebuilt 4L60E, and runs fairly well (so far). Unfortunately, the paint is completely shot, so once I get it mechanically sound, I'm considering doing a garage paint job myself. It'll be my first try at it, but hell, it can't look much worse than it does! Lots of great info on this site, I look forward to learning from everyone.

Hi, welcome!

If you do this yourself, would be awesome if you document the process so others like me can see how it goes lol. I've been debating on doing the same, as my restore is coming together on my 1994.

If I do decide to paint, I'll do my best to document it and take pics. I usually suck at that though, so I can't promise it'll be great!

I am the same way; I get neck deep in something and end up taking pics at the start and finish of a process.
