My JDM breakup.
My JDM breakup.
Ok so here's my story, I'm 22 years old gonna be 23 this year and for almost nine years I've been a honda fanatic. I used to live and breahe honda. Me and my buddies have probably been through every swap and build you could think of. I was that kid win the fart can and turbo who got his kicks from blowing the doors off anything with wheels. I used to love racing the guys with muscle cars just to prove that muscle will not always beat import. Then it happened, taxes came in and my fiance found an old broke down camaro. She just had to have it. Wouldn't even tell me what was so special about it other than it was an iroc-z and it was her dream car. When I went to go look at it I did the one thing I've sworn never to do again. I pulled up to the car, sent her a pic, and put a grand in his hand. Never even tried to turn it over, didn't pop the hood, didn't even open the door to look at the interior. Just pulled up and bought it. After I gave him the money, we discussed the issues with the car. It was a blue 87 iroc with t-tops. It had the 305 tpi engine. He said it doesn't run but the motor and trans are good. So I brought the car home and started going trough it. The more I worked on it the more I realized I kinda liked it. It was a weird feeling. I've never even given one of these a second look but for some reason, the more time I spent with it the more I started realizing what a work of art it is. I even put a search up on craigslist. About a month ago, I found the deal I was looking for. It was another 87 camaro with a 4bbl. The guy said he put a new carb on it and it still wasn't running right. Now I'm not a great mechanic or anything but I do know a little about quite a bit. So I headed out to check it out. When I got under the hood, I noticed the choke just stayed shut. No matter what it was just shut. So I reached in and flipped it open a tad and she fired right up. I gave the man 800 bucks for this thing and I've been in love ever since. I'll have pics up soon as I'm on my cell right now. Just thought somebody would enjoy my story. I've done a complete 180 since my honda days. Don't get me wrong, I still love honda but nothing will ever replace my maro.
Re: My JDM breakup.
Hondas are fun, but nothing replaces displacement. When you feel the torque of a N/A big old V-8, effortless power at any RPM, and, of course, RWD- donuts, drifting, burn-outs- well, welcome to the world I grew up in. I remember the muscle cars when they were new-

Welcome to the board.
One thing about real car people is that despite our preferences, we simply love cars, regardless of what company manufactured them or point of origin. Each vehicle has strengths and weaknesses. I have always had a favoritism for large displacement engines and rear wheel drive, yet for my daily driver I am using a Prius and enjoying 50 mpg...
