hello, my name is Tim. i just traded for a 96 z28 with some problems that i may need help with. i am an experienced backyard mechanic but i am unfamiliar with GM products. i have typically owned fords but im proud to have my camaro. i had a 79 firebird when i was in the Marines, so this Z28 is somewhat nostalgic for me. anyway...the "security, brake, and service engine soon" lights stay on all the time. engine runs fine but the tranny lacks anything above second gear. i have plans for a tranny rebuild, will this fix the engine light? and how do i get the other lights to go off?

 

Start out by getting your car scanned to determine which code(s) are causing your service engine light to come on. Most autoparts stores (autozone, advance, etc.) will do that for free.
