Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I'm Nick, been a gearhead for as long as i can remember, lol. i don't have it yet but i will be getting a 1996 Camaro Z28 SS #174 very soon. Buying it from my uncle. it needs a little TLC and i plan on bringing it back to as close to showroom condition as i can. it only has 49,XXX miles on it. anywho, i'm glad to see forums are still a thing and hopefully i can learn a lot about this car as well as share any information i might have! looking forward to posting pics and gathering information because once i get my hands on this car... i get slightly touched with the 'tism and will rip into it like a fat kid (me) holding a box of tasty cakes....
The SS is going to make a great addition to your already impressive garage. Thanks for planning to take it back to showroom condition. We need more of that. That’s the good news. Unfortunately, this forum is near its end. 113,000 members, but hardly any who are still active. Maybe a half-dozen LT1 owners, and one occasional LS1 owner. We get maybe 5 posts a week, and some of those are spammers. Can take a while to get meaningful help.
I’ve been here for 26 years, and can cover a lot of the LT1 issues. I purchased a 94 Firebird Formula brand new. Turned it into a pristine 9-second track car. A buddy bought a 97 30th SS convertible brand new, used a similar approach to turn it into a similarly pristine 9.0-second car with the LT1 engine. We’ve both sold those fun cars as we’ve become senior citizens.
I’ll respond to you clutch question, and try to provide you with resources to aid you in restoration and maintenance.
