95 badging Question

I am new to this site, I have been a Camaro guy for some time, 1982 to be exact and now fell into a 95 Cov, Z28 at a very good price. I am now 50 and having a second childhood.. The badging is strange. The Z is black, but the 28 is in gold. What gives with this. A friend said it was a race package that carried drivers around the track at race driver introduction at different race during the 95 season?? Does anyone have the real scoop on the odd badging on this car? Thanks.---grant

you may want to try posting this in one of the other sections of the board. you will probably get much better results there.

post up a pic of it if you can

welcome to the site and dont go in the lounge w/o a 10mm or larger handgun.

It most likely has a gold vinyl "overlay" on the stock badge, thus meaning your friend has no clue what he's talking about and a previous owner probably just wanted it to stick out more.

Where do I go from here about badging?

I just found out the badging on my 95 Z28 Covert. is for some type of show.
On a GM Vehicle Inquiry System we ran the vin and came back
BARS order type:: 10- P.E.P./SPL Event
Does anyone know what that may mean. My friend says it was most likely for a New year car show and this was a display car. How would I find out which cars went to the shows or were for this purpose?? I wonder if Chev. has a direct link or phone to someone that would have this information? Can anyone lead me in that direction??

You'll probably get more help there. Someone with the Camaro White Book should be able to look up what you need.

I've never heard of any badging like that though. My guess also would have been it was just a gold overlay but it seems like your VIN indicates something.

He was right, and YOU were wrong.

No, Its you that does not know what YOUR talking about. Mr 6speedLT1Z. Its now proven that my friend and GM employee was correct. These cars were used for New Year car shows, events and evaluations for Press releases. There are not a lot of these but they are around. Out of the <8000 Produced Z28 Cov. in 95 maybe 500 or < were produced with this special badging..

I once had a friend that always said,
Know what you Know, but don't know, what you don't know!
