wtb lt1 block

Hey all,

Anyone have a line on an lt1 block in rebuildable condition? I've decided I'd rather build a stroker motor before I get my blower, and I'd like to do it on the side to minimize my car's downtime.

Thanks,
Joe

I have an LT1 bare block, it came from the machine shop and has been sitting in my garage for a while and I want to get rid of it.

It is bored .060 over, with torque plates
aligned hone
thermal cleaned and magnafluxed.

I would like $475 basically I'm losing money on it the machine work was more than that alone.

I have pics I can e-mail.

Rob

Rob,

I'm interested. Are there any issues with being .060" over (besides not being able to rebuild)? Please send the pics to jgeorger@attbi.com

Thanks,
Joe

You can go .090 over with an LT1 block.
There is no issues with the block being bored .060.
Dean and Vortech396 both have .060 blocks.

After I responded I did my research, and it seems that .060 is somewhat risky on an LT1, especially for a high hp blower or nitrous motor. So I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass.

Thanks anyway,
Joe

there is a bunch of them on ebay that are 4 bolt for 200-350 dollars. look under parts and use lt1 as a search.

no problem,

Just keep in mind that if the machining is done correctly .060 over isn't a risk at all. The machine shop NEDYNO uses does a sonic test for wall thickness.
Dean and John(will make) make over 800hp with there .060 block.

I forgot to mention I also have another LT1 that will be .040 block
but it has had the works done to it,

Bored with torque plates
aligned honed
crank clearancing for 3.875 cranks.
machined and tapped to be a splayed 4 bolt block
sonic tested
magnafluxed
thermal cleaned

I should be able to pick it up first week in April

$1,100
