will NED let me run w/o a muffler?
will NED let me run w/o a muffler?
Ok so letting my car sit outside all winter was a stupid idea but I had no choice
My exhaust rotted just before it enters the muffler and so I took it off. Right now I'm driving around w/o a muffler, it sounds ok and isn't as loud as you'd think.
I know they say no "open exhaust" on street nights but thats more open headers and cutouts, cause its no where near as loud as that. Will I be wasting a trip up there if I go like this?
oh yeah, I think I might be leaving it like this for a while because my gas mileage has skyrocketed compared to what it was before.....

New England has a muffler rule for all cars running at the track. If it sounds like it might have a performance muffler you might get away with it. They don't look under every car . But if it's loud you probably won't be allowed to run.
that sucks, I'm currently "between jobs" meaning i'm lazy and don't have one so I don't have the money to have it fixed yet.
There are no tailpipes on my car at all, the rot was directly as the curve goes into the muffler so it is more like having a dump instead of anything else

No.
Here is the policy:
Mufflers: All Street Night competitors must use mufflers. Open headers or exhaust are not allowed on Street Night. All Street Eliminator, Modified Eliminator, Top Eliminator, Quick Rod, Motorcycle Eliminator and Top Bike entries must use mufflers during any Sunoco Race Fuels ET Series event or Top Bike event. Open headers or exhaust are not allowed. Collector insert cones are not allowed. In general, mufflers must meet the following criteria: A muffler must be produced by a recognized manufacturer who specifically indicates the device was produced as a muffler. These include, but are not limited to, the following manufacturers: Borla, Dynamax, Thrush, Rewarder, and Flowmaster. New England Dragway Officials have the option of rejecting any vehicle that contradicts the spirit of our intent to maintain a "Good Neighbor" policy with the towns of Brentwood and Epping.

yeah I know that I'm definately not even close to being as loud as them, thats why I was kinda hoping they would let me slide on the whole muffler thing
oh well, i'm broke anyways so I couldn't afford to go racing in the first place

not needed, I still have the muffler and tailpipes sitting in my basement. I just don't have any money to pay someone to fix the piece of pipe that rotted
