Post who's lost a power window motor?

What were the symptoms like? Mine will work for a bit... like it will go a certain distance and stop, then not really work again till some time has passed. The longer you wait the further the window will go when you try it again... its wierd ... and i dont want to blow 80 bucks on a new motor quite yet.

My trusty old Buick had the same symptoms.

Wait till it gets colder then it will work even worse

Grabbing the window from the top and pulling while you use what's left for power will also speed the process.

Take it like a man and buy a new motor!

I just replaced my driver's side window two weeks ago. It would go down/up a couple inches, and then stop. I would wait a minute, and then it would do the same. It's pretty easy to change too.

hrm... I figured it would be tough to change. I have bad memories of doing a similar operation on an 89 oldsmobile that was in my family.

At least now that I know I'm fixing the right problem, blowing the cash doesnt seem so bad.

There are three rivets holding the motor to the regulator. Drill through the fiberglass with a 1/4"-1/2" bit, and then drill the head of the rivet. It shouldn't take more than a half hour to do it.

I just did the pass one in my 95 and my buddys 96 SS. We had both old motors out and the new ones in less than 20 minutes. And we were sharing tools! It is cake if you got a small set of drill bits.

Don't know if you've fixed it yet, but here's a lead on a new motor or two http://www.hoodscoop.com/ubb/ultimat...c;f=6;t=000085
