unavailable parts for camaro

I was afraid of this..I called my local Chevorlet for a ECM for my 93 Z28.

I was told that they are no longer available..the polite words he used were "on backorder". He went on to say that is their way to say no longer available. And they want us to continue to support USA made cars made by GM. (I have Three of them). Ted Platt Wallingford, CT

guy,

its a 93..not a 2003..

If I am not mistaken I think the most that dealers NOS is 5 years then you go aftermarket...it has nothing to do with buying american..its just the way things are done..

call toyota for a 93 Supra's ECM...or a Mitsu's ECM for a 93 3000 GT..or even anything for a 2003 Mustang..

it cost more to keep parts in stock for vehicles that are out of warranty or dwindling in number. I even think the 93's ECM is a stand alone.with speed density and other stuff...I think that you could go get a whole junk 93 complete for almost the amount the dealer would ask for just the ECM..

The 1993 Camaro is not a dealer responsibility anymore thats the job of aftermarket and specialty shops..or Camaro junkyards..

a 1993 is almost a 17 year old car...its not new..

Yeah, I tend to agree. I would think you could find that aftermarket for a lot less money anyway. The question is what did you do to fry the one you have...!

I had always heard this the company had to stock parts for 10 years. Not arguing, just stating what I'd heard.

EDIT: Regardless, it wouldn't help the OP even if it was 10 years...

Try Speartech

They probably have what you need and can even throw a tune in there for you as well.
