This state SUCKS

Not enough that I pay 5% sales tax, then a license fee for plates then a fee for an inspection sticker.. Then they hit you with the Excise tax.

What the hell is this tax for anyways?

2003 Lightning Valuation $29,250 Excise tax = $609.38. I am sure the other 2 cars are right behind this one.

I have had enough, I'm looking for a place over the border come Monday.

Price of owning an expensive car.

Actually our sales tax is fairly low as compaired to the rest of the country.

TX and FLA have no state income tax. Those are the places I am looking at.

my wife wants to move to San Antonio , Tx where I will get paid the same for alot less cost of living ... I can put up with an occasional tornado
But my wife will get a $12,000.00 cut in pay .

THE excise tax for the 89 TTA should be somewhere around $5.00 I think I paid $10.00 for my 94 Z28 last year .

Excise tax is a local tax that supposedly goes to highway depts to maintain town roads.

I feel your pain! I pay excise on the Firebird, a Durango, a Malibu(work car), and Sea Ray boat (trailered), yet my road looked worse than the main streets of Baghdad!!! Maybe they should stop paying these guys to drive around sprinkling salt and sand when it's raining...

Actually, depending on where you are in MA a $12k may be the same or more money in San Antonio. San Antonio has about the same cost of living as Orlando and the cost of living is almost double going from Orlando to Boston. Sales tax in TX kinda sucks though. I don't remember San Antonio's but in some areas it's 8.5%. Luckily, being in the military I claim FL as my home state and don't pay state income tax to live in MA .

>This is a true statement , but that is still alot of money to lose even though the cost of living is so much less expensive down there .
There are a few guys here from Lackland (here to help pull our fat out of the fire) , and they are the money makers in their family , but up here my wife makes the cash and I make the "tip" .
I claim Massachusetts for taxes because I have to

I suggest you move to Orlando,Fl...It's soo inexpensive, and cost of living down there is like nothing....You can get a 3 bedroom apt for less than $1,000 a month, and you can get a nice 3 bedroom house for about $160,000. I lived in Fl all my life, and I just came up to mass until december to make some more money. Me and my fiance that lives here are moving there ASAP...it may even be before decmeber..I sure hope so, cuz MASSACHUSETTS SUCKS!!!!

I don't speak spanish and don't care to learn so I wouldn't last long down there. I hate tract housing, everything looks the same and its all pushed together.

There probably is just as much spanish here as there is down there (including Portugese,Puerto Rican,Dominican, and various other latin dialect) and what makes you think you will last up here ? .

I'm from Texas, San Antonio and Lubbock where I went to college at Texas Tech. MA really does suck. Sales tax in TX is 7.5%. Texas is definantly a lower cost of living than FL or MA. My folks live in a house thats worth 500K up here in MA. In Texas, maybe worth 200K. My first apt in TX $250 month in nice area. Up here in MA, $950 in an OK area. Its just rediculous up here. I can't wait until I get to move back soon.
