no emissions for obd1

Has anyone else heard about this. I was told by a mechanic friend of mine that starting at some point early 2008, obd1 controlled motors will no longer need to pass emissions in MA!

I heard a rumor too, but where is the proof? I would love to find a link or something.

I heard this as well last month from the mechanic who inspected my car. It was either 08 or 09 that the treadmill goes away.

They are supposed to check for wipers as well as lights, horn, emergency brake, tire tread, etc. They have not checked to see if my wipers worked for the last 3 years..... But that could just be the shop. I take our 3 cars there each year so they know me....

Very rarely have they jacked my car and pulled a wheel to check brakes and front end.

I have NEVER had a visual inspection performed of the emissions systems in the 11 years I've lived here.
