Mass emisions testing

As I said in my prior post I'm getting ready to pick the car up and bring it back to mass. I havn't been here in a while so I'm kinda new to the emissions game. I have a 383 stroker with no tree hugging emisions crap on it to include hollow cat. Is there anyway possible to get this thing pass mass emisions? thanks for any help.

if ur in tight w/ somebody that can score u a sticker then u shud b all set...if not, then i think by the way u described it that there's no way ur gonna pass. good luck tho.

PS - do not go to Sam's Mobil in Shrewsbury on Rt. 9, the Indian/Arabian or whatever guys that work there are douchebags.

I kinda had the feeling that was going to be the case. I guess I could always attach a few hundred to my registration I knew it wasn't going to be easy and registering for five days at a shot might get kinda costly Oh well I guess I could always just pull the tags off my truck and drive that way J/k

my buddy w/ his Volvo has super tinted windows (he thinks he's ghetto and black) and he got rejected at some place, then went some other place and the guy was just like "hey ****, hot tint nucca." and passed him. lol.

With the 95 you'd be going on the treadmill (IM240). No way you'd pass that without a cat. However, if you were to get a cat, with some tuning/alcohol you could pass. My car has long tubes with dual carsound cats. No egr, no air. I passed with tuning alone, although next time I'd probably try putting alcohol in the tank. Usually the guys don't really do a visual check - if the car passes the treadmill it passes.

What type of alchohol are you referring to? I have a bunch of methanol that I can get at work for free. If I'm not mistaken, you have to limit the dose of methanol to 10% of fuel volume as it is bad on any plastic/rubber fuel system parts.

Not sure about methanol. I have heard to use toluene or xylene, usually available at a hardware store in the paints section. I think if you do a google search of the lt1-edit archives you should find something. I know it was discussed there many months ago.

I appreciate the help on this one and the computer tuning is already in the works. I'm ordering another pcm for the car and I figure I'll just plug it in a few minutes before inspection. I'm also going to weld to cats together just for the emmisions portion of the inspection. I figure with two cats I should have no problem unless they visually look under the car. I should find out how all of this goes in the next few weeks or so. The car runs really rich due to not having it dyno tuned and will burn your eyes but with the two cats it should be ok (hopefully). I appreciate all the replies and maybe this summer I'll see some of you at the track.

Well, first off according to mass emissions laws that car is illegal just because of the non-stock motor. If you do a motor swap it is concidered altered and the feds dont like it. I used to have an 87 Monte SS, it had a 355ci cammed, headers, true duals. But i put on highflow cats, no air pump, nothin stock, if you go to an auto enthusiast u might get lucky and they wont give u **** about a visual, but it is gunna have to go on the rollies. Just put in premium, with some CD2 reducer. or you could do denatured alcohol. I currently have a Reject on my Camaro cause i have a faulty airpump, and without the airpump i failed. I got the dyno...

Thats what sucks about emissions you cant have fun, too bad they dont regulate the friggin Mack trucks that shoot out that nice black SMOKE!

The pump is still there, i have to get it replaced, and yes the SES light is illuminated constantly. However, when i brought it to get its sticker, the guy was like ok, well i could fail u just for the light but we will stick it on the dyno to see, so sureily enough it failys on the dyno by like a few points. So, if i cant pass with a faulty airpump...then...i dunno, how a 383 is gunna do
