A lil help guys?

I'm back in the saddle ... can't wait to see all you guys at Dean's next event. Marc congrats on getting her running again. (Hope she reals in the chicks like the Cav did that night at the dyno and dance event at Deans last year.)

Anyways guys here's the deal.

My SES light came on 2 weeks ago, I reset it with the fuses cuz I figured it was the gas cap. Then last night it came on again and I haven't filled up in 6 days so that kills that theory.

Of course now my warranty is up (2months ago) so now diagnostics is gonna run me $$$$ every time I gotta figure out that stupid lil light.

So where I trust you New England guys the most out of anyone on these boards... What's the best product out there for diagnostics on the OBDII? Where's the best place to get one? And does it translate codes into english or do I need to get some sorta manual to know what the codes mean?

Could just a set of MAF ends be causing that light somehow? Or would that have thrown the light right away when I swapped them?

Also, if anyone is local around Millbury/Worcester and would be willing to meet me somewhere to do a quick diagnostic on the car while I wait for whatever I decide to order to actually come in, I'd be eternally grateful.

Here is a site to look up some of the codes. I have an SES light on as well. I need a new CAT. Thank god that's under warranty till 80,000. Or I would of bought SLP high flow ones. I hope this helps a little as well.

I haven't filled up in 6 days so that kills that theory.

the only time I've been able to say that is when my car is broken down

auto zone will be your easiest option (unless there aren't any near you), and its free

Thanks Rich

Thanks again Rich for meeting up with me..

Guys thanks for the suggestions. Rich was nice enough to meet me and use his scanning software to diagnose.

it said something about the cat but wasn't being real definite... so he looked at the sensors Looks like a passenger side O2 Sensor (the one after that cat) because it was hardly cycling like the others.. hardly budged from 1.5 while the others were jumping up and down all the way up to 7.5.

Still let the opinions flow of what diagnostic software you guys like the best... I liked Rich's it seemed easy enough to navigate through.

Thanks again you guys.. especially Rich.

I'm going thru the same thing now. Passenger side bank 1 CAT. I forgot he code. I replaced the O2 sensors and it came back on. So brother in law has been looking at it and called the GM branch (he works for a Jeep dealership) and told them the story so they ordered me a CAT (been to many dealers that treat me like I don't know anything, you know the story girl with fast car, yadda, yadda, yadda). Just waiting for it to come in so I can get it changed. It's still under warranty thank god or SLP would be getting a call. If you have under 80,000 it's still under warranty. I have 60,000 on my car. I hope everything works out for you.

hoping

Ya I'm thinking I'll wait till the light comes back on, have autozone do their diagnostic on it so when they tell me its the O2 sensor I'll buy from them.. that way if it comes back on I can blame it on their error that way they'll take it back and then I'll just call my dealership and let them know I need a cat.

But from that software Rich used there's definately something funky going on with that O2. It barely cycled at all.

Blue - where you from? I can set you up with a dealership if you're somewhere I know that will show you nothing but respect... they'll even kiss a lil behind if they know I set you up there Let me know if I can help.

Always willing to help a fellow fbody owner, Jay.
One thing I was thinking to try rather than throwing money at the problem is to switch the two rear O2 sensors and I can do a little logging again and see if the problem moves. Let me know.
Although it sounds like Carrie is dealing with the exact same issue.
Good luck.
P.S. You were right, I already got my first nibble from autotrader.com on my car after less than one day

Hmmm good thinking Rich.. I'll have to hope for some semi decent weather this weekend, so i can slide under the car and swap them... then I guess I'll just have to wait a few more weeks until that damn SES light kicks back on. Or would you run the diagnostics on it without even having a code thrown (i.e. without an SES light) or do you wait for the code so you see if its the right or left side that's triggering it.

Rich I'm telling ya.. throw that bad boy on ebay... I looked on their last night and there are very few modded LT1's on there. I don't know what you're looking to get for it but I bet someone would end up in a bidding war for it.

We don't need no stinkin' SES to monitor the O2 sensor's performance ... Just let me know when you've done the switch and we can check it out.

If autotrader and word of mouth don't pan out,I'll try ebay.

Jay I'm in Western, MA....Belchertown to be exact. I already had the dealer (Bertera in Palmer) order me a CAT so we will see. Plus when I schedule it I will be there the whole time. I won't leave my baby there. Sometimes I wonder if I love my car more than my husband. LOL

But if this doesn't pan out I will keep you in mind. I really appreciate it tho.

O2 Sensor swap

I never really noticed the location on the Rear O2 sensors on these cars.. Never had to pay attention to it before I guess.

How much of a pain in the **** is it to get to the right and left Rear O2 senors ?

I'm planning on swapping these this weekend.. and hopefully Rich will be around to do a lil monitoring of those bad boys before Monday sometime? (in case you're reading this)

If not I can always just hit autozone to see if it switched to the left bank rather than the right...

Thanks for any info on 02's
