I have no idea what the current legislation is, but in the early 1980s I had a 76 Plymouth Fury Sport with leopard dash, leg burner sidepipes, and unilug mags... Perfect car for a 70s kind of guy.

I bounced between Harwickport and South Dennis for a year and to accomodate the rear tires I had air shocks that raised the back quite a lot.

One night I was pulled over and given a "warning" that my rear bumper height was too high and the officer made a point of telling me that if he caught me again I was going to be given a "fix it" ticket.

Not long after I was nailed again...

This time however I reached down next to my driver seat and let the air out as I was being directed to pull over...

This game went on for the entire year.

I never did get a real ticket.

So... To answer your question..... I would "assume" the laws, if anything, have gotten tougher instead of easier.

I'm pretty sure MA has basic info on their state website so you can verify this and perhaps someone from MA can chime in with their knowledge/experience.

You wont get pulled over but you may get a hassle at inspection time. Usually just throw the stock tires back on or find another shop. I run 35s on my 06 f-250 and have no problems. Its not as bad as it used to be in the late 80s when everyone was running big tires. good luck. BTW why would anyone move from FL to this god forsaken arctic winter 9months of the year place ?
