Exhaust Question

Hey guys,
I have questions about getting a cat-back system. after fixing my body damage i was planning on getting a cat-back system. my 1st choice would prbly b the slp loudmouth and 2nd would be the hooker aerochamber(i think its the 1)...i was wondering...how much would it cost me if i bought 2 Dynomax bullets or something like that and the tail pipes and an exhaust shop or ne other shop could do the other 3" piping? how much would this install run me as a total? i know the dynomax bullets are around 35 a piece and tips would be around 100 together...anyone got ne ideas?

thanx,
jake

also, would my idea of the custom 3" piping and the dynomax bullets pass inspections???? its a daily driver so i need to pass inspection. how do the bullets sound??? the dynomax web site says that the bullets are "race only" mufflers so would they pass the sh!tty massachusetts inspections.

thanx for ne and all help,
jake

I don't think they will give you a hard time, as long as the cats are still in their original spots, and the exhaust still exits behind the rear axle. If they are loud though, you might be in trouble. Given the 2 choices you offered, the Hooker would be a shoe-in to pass inspection.

Since I ruled out the dual setup, that leaves 2 cat back choices that you listed, which I felt the Hooker would fit your requirements. Personally, if I only had a few hundred bucks to spend on a cat back, I would get the Magnaflow. All stainless steel and nice tone for $389 at Fasttoys.net.

hey..just get an eloctronic cutout put in and some crome tips.. lol..works for me
nothing in my opinion is sounding more bad ***..and can be concealed if trouble comes looking..
freinds say it sounds so bad ***..if you can handle the noise..and it does give a good HP improvement and I think is adjustible

thats odd, ive heard nothing but great things about the QTEC........at any rate if you are looking to save coin i have an edelbrock muffler ill sell ya for $50, it has the tailpipes welded on and was used literally for 200 miles before i got a catback. it had a reducer put on to accept the 2.75 inch piping but if you went to an exhaust shop and had them bend you the 3inch (should be cheap) im sure they could weld it up. it had a really mean sound to it (wasnt too too loud) and the only reason i ditched it was i needed to upgrade to a 3 inch catback due to FLP's. you could always try that 'dynomouth' thing that i always see in LS1 tech, but im notoverly impressed with that setup. avoid the loudmouth too. its just my opinion, but it doesnt sound good at all. i wont even tell ya what i recommend since your trying to keep it low budget!

oh, and if you can locate a gale banks setup go for it, best sound for thedollar ive heard, and i THINK TPIS sells it.

thanx,
jake

o yeah...dennis? i want to do custom piping from the cat-back, not a true dual exhaust system cuz i know that would cost way too much, ill try and get ahold of him. tell him to chime in on this thread too.
