Talking Dyno'd at New England Dyno and Tuning last night

The shakedown continues for the Tomato.

Last night I went to New England Dyno and Tuning ( www.nedyno.com ) and threw the old girl on the rollers.

On the first pull it made 577 / 526. This was the same tune that I had when the car went 10.58 @ 128.

After some tuning and tweaking the car made 654 RWHP and 580 RWTQ.
This was through FLP dual cats.

I’m taking the car off the road for a few weeks as I’m yanking out the torque converter and sending it back to Precision Industries to get tightened up.

Thanks go out to Dyno Dean Hoffman and Rob from New England Dyno and Tuning, definately the place to go when it’s time to put your ride on the rollers and see what it’s made of

Speaking of that I’ll be going back to NEDT to dyno the LS-1 soon.

I’ll be looking forward to getting the converter back and seeing what it will do with some extra power and a converter that doesn’t slip all the way down the track.

Here are the dyno graphs

Hey Ted,
What is needed to run 9's
Some people don't think I have it in me to de-tune it as I know it would need a full roll cage and that is not high on my list, not sure what else is needed?

Marc

Marc,

Congrats on the amazing numbers! That's a real nice amount of power to pick up at a dyno session. Hello 9's!

Why are you tightening up the converter before seeing what effect the new found horsepower has on the combination?

Well the converter isn't good now it will be useless with the new power. But now he knows how much torque and power it makes and can tell the converter company his number and they can tighten it up accordingly.

Yeah all that safety garbage Marc said and I quote "Yeah if the car goes much faster and they make me put a 10 point cage and all the saftey equipment I'll just detune the program and run slower"

Can you Guys believe Marc said that!!! I was in shock.

I have witnesses that he said it !!

I cannot tell a lie, those words were spoken by me and no I wasn't drunk.

Ted,
Thanks, as far as not running it again, it slips the entire way down the track. Once I launch, it never goes below 6K the entire way down the track, when it shifts at 6400 it might go to 6000 if it's lucky. I'm hitting 6500 through the lights as it is.

Thanks for the info.

Hey, did you read the latest GMHTP?
I thought the conclusion statement was shot across the bow of Rich Kraus and myself as we were the two big dog LT-1's that had to drop out
I'll be sending Rick Jensen some info real soon

Big Dogs?

Oh yea..... You are talking about cars.... And performance.......

Let him know that next time I want to dial and run any big dogs that care to appear..... And to juice up a payout..... Perhaps an "invited" list for a bracket race....

I'm sure I'll take the cats off at some point.

Probably the next time we get together at NEDT and do a cz28.com dyno day I'll take the cats off and see what difference it makes

Ahhhh, I remember now.... Please tell me you have regular tranny fuid and not synthetic in it.... Even my slow car will slip if I use synthetic.

I'm using Synergen synthetic tranny fluid as recommended by SRA Transmission.

Yea. TCI recommened synthetic in their too. It slipped. Put regular fuid in and it worked... Just something to think about.

However I "lost" the tranny in the final round yesterday, about 100 feet out... No gears at all. Had to watch the 2nd place guy zoom by for the win and I had a fantastic ride home on Triple A.
