Alky Injection

Well, I am installing the 6psi vortech kit and plan to run alchol injection rather than buying an intercooler. I amy be able to up the boost to 8psi without detonation. Should make for a fun winter project. Anybody around here run alcohol injection?

8psi oh that poor engine lol when you had the heads off you should have lowered the compression just a little.on a side note i blew up my rear so i am awaiting a 12 bolt and am going to a 175 or 200 shot

Well, I'll try the 6psi and see how it goes. I may work my way up, but I'll start with that. Hope to see around 470rwhp when its tuned.

Have you had any experience in the past with alky?

I helped install an alky kit on a GN awhile ago. Before he ran 16lbs boost, after he ran 21lbs on pump gas.
Still don't know if I'll put one on my wifes GN yet.

Correct me if i be wrong, but wont a blower cam help lower that compression with overlap ?

A blower cam wont help lower compression at all as far as I know. It actually captures more of the cylinder pressure do to less over lap. Thats why they were great with boost. The cam I have is a mix between N/A and blower. I will have some cylinder pressure bleed off. For example, due to the overlap, I may only see 5psi with a 6psi pulley.

I think you biggest prob could be compression and Cam bleedoff.Higher compression should have a more overlap Cam to bleed off compression and help save the motor.
As for the Alky it is not that easy to get right on a blower car due to while tuning it you have a good chance of blowing the motor.Turbo cars moniter the engine while turning boost up slowly and adjusting the Alky, plus GN's have serious Knock sensors to really help when the Alky doesn't work right.

A better bet is for you get your own LT1 Edit and start with low timing and work your way up.

Don, I figured I would have some. My cam is custom ground on a 114lsa, but intake/exhaust duration is only split by 6 degrees. We'll see. I figure I'll lose 1psi (like I may get 5psi with a 6psi pulley). If thats the case, I'll put an 8# pulley and get around 7psi. I'll have to see on the dyno.

I am gonna buy tunercat and play with the timing like you say. I want to eventually set the timing as advanced as possible with the alky injection for max power. Then when the alky runs low, I can use the boost controller to manually retard timing for street use (or until I fill the alky back up). I may have some general tuning questions, is it cool if I shoot an email on them. I know you tune LS1's, I figure theory is similar.
