Would anyone be interested in a solid state nitrous control box?

A buddy and I are working to design a solid state nitrous box. Should do anything you want.
  • Upon turning on the master switch for the nitrous, The unit will operate the bottle opener, and fully open the bottle. (Will support the NOS and NX type bottle openers. Dynotune could possibly be integrated too) Same for when you deactivate the master switch, bottle will close.
  • Activate the nitrous based on these conditions:
    • WOT(wide open throttle) Switch
    • FPSS(Fuel Pressure Safety Switch)
    • RPM Window Switch
    • Wideband output voltage is above a user adjustable value
    • 2 step rev limiter is deactivated
Of course if you do not have any of these switches, you can disable them. The unit will have an input for a 5v wideband. Which will allow you to deactivate the nitrous if the a/f ratio falls below a certain user definable value.
  • Has output wires for LEDs to signal when the heater is on, nitrous is on/spraying, if bottle is open/closed
  • Nitrous and Fuel Solenoid current is handled by solid state transistors, increasing reaction time and durability as there are no moving parts. Protection circuitry insures that if a component fails, the nitrous system is shut down.
  • Handles necessary current to the purge solenoid, through solid state circuitry, again more reliable.
  • 2-Step Rev Limiter (MSD Box Required)
  • Supplies necessary current to bottle heater.
  • Will turn the bottle heater off depending on the status of a pressure transducer
  • Built in Window Switch (MSD Box Required)
  • After nitrous is activated, the box will activate an MSD retard system.
  • Can have provisions for dual stage systems if needed.

Let me know what you guys think, and if you think any other features should be added. Don't know a price yet, will be affordable though for what you are getting! We would advertise on here if there is any interest. PM or post here with any questions.

Sounds great!

Sounds really complicated though.

If you can get it to handle the currents needed for the nitrous solenoids, bottle openers, and bottle heaters, that would be awesome!

it'll work. hoping to maybe have a test unit this weekend or next. It will handle the currents. All you would have to do is run wires. Bottle heater would just need one wire to it, need to find a ground wherever you have the bottle. Opener will require 2 wires from the unit to the opener. Each solenoid, only one wire. Ground them on the engine, etc

Depending on just how "affordable" it is, I'd probably be interested.

What kind of price range are you guys looking for?

Unit will probably have a small processor to help with circuit monitoring, etc.

Any other features you would like to see?

We are looking at about a month until I can test a unit on my car. Have to build it all, write the program for the processor.

Will include a shutdown feature incase a solenoid fails(like not opening or dying while spraying), so your car doesnt blow up. System will possibly tell you what failed as well(depending on how much it costs to add this).

Gimme some more input on what you guys think of this, i think its going to rock! No more bulky relays! And excellent protection, all in one box!

I can give you guys an all inclusive list of features that the box will have probably tomorrow or thursday.
