Window switch needed with TPS?
Window switch needed with TPS?
Do I need to use a window switch if my nitrous is activated only at WOT with a TPS? I guess if I did use it, it would mainly be to shut the nitrous off above say 5500 rpm or so, but is it really necessary? Also, what about using some kind of retard control that activates only with nitrous? I've seen these little dials that turn on and off with nitrous flow and they can retard timing by as much as 10 degrees. Anybody here used one of these?

I use a manual switch instead of a window switch, and I know a couple of other people that do too. I usually spray when I know I have traction and let off at about 5500 right before it shifts. If you plan on bracket racing you should use a window switch so your times are more consistent.

I would definately incorporate a window switch and some means of retarding the timing into your system. I believe that the cheapest, safest, and easiest way to do this is to install an ignition box. Myself and many others on this board use the Mallory 685. I picked mine up for about $220 and it works great. If you go this route definately get the adaptor harness, as it makes installation a breeze. The 685 is a digital box that is very easy to program. It has two RPM limits, one for max RPM, and the second which is button activated for launching. You can program it to retard the timing when the nitrous system is in use, and of course it has the window switch along with some other features. Better to be safe than hear the dreaded POP!
