Will TR55's cause detonation?

I finished installing my nitrous kit today (97 LT1 heads/cam 100 shot) and I put in the new fuel pump and everything, but I didn't get a chance to put in the TR6's yet. I wanted to test the system to make sure it worked though, so I went for a drive, turned on the heater/arming switch, then as soon as I got on it I looked at my scanmaster and I got 3 degrees of knock, so I got out of it. Would the TR55's cause this, or should I be looking at a way to retard the timing?

I used to get give or take between 4-6 degrees depending on conditions.

And apparently your motor didn't like it.
