What's the best dry NOS system?

I've been thinking about the NOS 5177. Anybody have any comments?

I like my 5177 dry kit. I picked up a second and 9 mph on a small shot. What car and year do you have?

TNT dry kit. A TNT 100 shot is = a NOS 125+ shot. Plus TNT uses top notch equipment.

First off I would reccommend that you move this to the N20 section, you'll get more replies there most likely.

2nd why are you sold on the dry kit. I don't want to start a war here but you should really research WET vs Dry kits for the LS1. There are many things to consider but perhaps the most important is the usage of the safety features and a professional install. With either system I highly recommend a Window switch.

I can give you more details but I rather not post them here as this will just become a WET vs. Dry thread

From what I've seen with a couple of my friend's cars, I would really recommend going with a wet kit.

Nothing against TNT but...their kit should make more power because they're using bigger jets, IOW your spraying more N2O with a TNT 100 shot than with an NOS 100 shot, that's all.

A TNT 100 shot will make 100rwhp, while a NOS 100 shot will make 100 flywheel hp.

Most 93-97 f-bodies prefer a wet kit, and the people that i know that have 98-02 f-bodies use dry kits. Personally ive seen my dry kit yeild better results than another late forth gen with a 150 NX shot.

I can throw in some more times for the NOS 5177 kit.

My 2002 Z28 with a lid, cutout, and 13x dry shot went 11.72@118mph in the 1/4 and 7.54@93mph in the 1/8 with a 1.66 60 foot.

On a Mustang dyno all motor it put out 288rwhp and 302rwtq. With the dry shot it put out 385rwhp and 551rwtq.

Has anyone ever figured out how TNT makes more horsepower. Is it because they use larger jets or is their pair of nozzles/power ring etc. more efficient. I know that most kits are jetted to run at different pressures so you can't just compare jet size, you need to know how much N2O is flowing.

I went w/ TNT and my wet kit is in the mail (be here monday) and I can't wait. As far as I know it can be used wet or dry (I will use it wet).

BTW 35th what was your bottle pressure to pick up one second on an 85 shot? If it was higher than what the kit was jetted for then it wasn't really an 85 shot. Either way you have put down some great times with not too many mods.

From what I have looked at, the TNT system seems to be built the best.

Just using bigger jets, AFAIK, and being the only company around who rates power at the rear wheels (a good marketing trick you can see all the references to it on their web site). But let's check, just to make sure. I have the NOS numbers, and they recommend for 100HP you use 55N, 42F. Who's got the TNT 100HP kit that can give us their jet sizes?

It was at a safe 950psi. I think the headers really helped a lot to do with the times. I dont know how NOS rates their jets. I dont spray on my hole shot, I wait untill about 60 feet or so ( I only have a WOT switch). The shop that installed my system was also impressed with my times.

Awesome times 35th!!

And TTT on the question about how much nitrous each kit actually sprays. It needs to be figured out in lbs/sec or hour (not sure how flow rate is commonly measured). Like: at _ psi, _ lbs/second will flow through an jet _ sized. The problem is that jet size isn't the only variable because it depends what bottle pressure the manufacturer recomends. I'll see if I can figure it out when I get my TNT kit (tomorrow hopefully) Can someone figure out for a NOS dry shot and or NX wet?

It would be good to know if any one kit is really better.

Dustin
