Wet kit problems...

Howdy, im new here and have a question...i just recently put a wet 50 shot in the old 6 cylinder and the install was done incorrectly, i think. it was put in IN FRONT OF the MAF sensor, and from what ive heard, thats not a good thing. the trouble started when i hit the juice the ferst few times, the bottle wasn't even turned on, there was just fuel. the car ran so rich it nearly stalled on the interstate. ever since i've had a knocking sound coming from the motor which is consistent with the RPM's, and im hoping its just becasue i dont have 93 octane, and becasue i dont have the TR6 plugs. can anyone confirm or deny my assumptions about the motor? or do i need a new one... which i can't afford by a long shot... any help oradvice wouldbe appreciated!

thanks for reading this, and this is a great site!

I dont see how adding extra fuel can break your motor. Maybe just fouled plugs? That would be my guess without knowing more. And be sure to move that wet kit behind the maf, it will make you run even richer.

Re: Wet kit problems...

he put a WET shot in FRONT of the MAF. that means fuel hit the hot MAF wires. more than likely, he toasted the MAF and is now having these problems.

Oh I didnt think that it would hurt the Maf. Mrr23 seems that he might know a bit more than I do so maybe you should look into his idea.

Yeah the gas on the maf cant be a good combo. And why did you only spray gas and not nitrous??

And you definently want it behind the maf, and it wont make your car run any richer. Unless of course you continue to just spray gas through it with no nitrous.

Re: Wet kit problems...

it sprayed only gas because the bottle was not turned on, even though i was told it was...i should have double checked anyways

ill probably end up blockign off the fuel line, becasue you cant put the nozzle behind the MAF without drilling into the TB...and i dont really want to do that...oh well, ill get it fixed up, but thanks for the replies!

ah, one other thing, i changed the plugs and they were completely covered with carbon, definitely screwed, but the knocking is still there, probably just an exhaust leak though, i can live with that anyhow.
