Post Testing my nitrous questions

Hey,

Testing my nitrous per TNT instructions, and I have it wired right, in that the solenoids click when the system is armed, but i was wondering how to test the window switch. Should the solenoids click when the engine is off if the window switch is wired properly, or does the window only affect the solenoids when the car is on? anyone know how to test the window? i have the yellow wire tapped into the WOT switch wire that leads to the arming switch, the white wire reading tach signal, the red wire to 12V power, and the black wire to a ground. Anyone know for sure if that is correct, or how to test it, or anything to help me? thanks

The window switch is monitoring your RPM signal, so unless the engine is running, it won't read anything. So basically you need to run the RPM's up through the range set for the window, and see if the system sprays (solenoids open, whatever).

Cool, thanks. Is it safe to just arm the system but not open the bottle, so only fuel would spray? Im nervous that its not wired correctly, and I dont want the nitrous to spray below 3000 rpm, because Ive heard that is a good way to blow the motor. Would it hurt anything if I leave the bottle closed so only fuel would spray through the nozzle, and rather than waiting for a kick when the spray hits, just see if it bogs because of the excess fuel? Is that possible? Thanks again,

Absolutely that's possible. Another option is to unhook the hoses from your jets, and just hold them pointing into a rag.

If you have a variety of "pills" for your window switch, you could also set it to a smaller window range, so you don't have to run it all the way up to 6K (or whatever).

Well, I went and tried it out. I turned the car on, left the bottle closed, and pressed the WOT switch, hoping the solenoids would not click. Well, they did, and my car shut off. I guess I have something wired wrong. Heres how it goes...red wire is directly to the pos. side of the battery, black wire is to a ground on the radiator support, white wire is tee into one of the wires on the coil to read rpm (neg. side i think), and the yellow wire is tee into the wire connecting my WOT switch to my arming switch. Im thinking my error is either in how I wired it to read tach signal or in how its connected to my WOT switch. How did you guys wire yours? Thanks for any help/tips.
