Stock Z28 M6 looking for suggestions
I have a 1999 Camaro Z28 with borla catback exuast (came on car when purchased). That is all i have done i just happened to purchase this car. I have a 2 yr warranty still intach. But i have seen some outstand results with the TNT nitrous system where a 150 shot has cut off almost an exact 2 seconds in the 1/4 mile in a stock car. I am thinking about buying it and installing it which would void the warranty but, couldnt i just remove the nos put it back to stock ways and tell them i am clueless how i melted the heads or shot a piston through the engine? What are the pros and cons of the nitrous? Any ideas if i were to purchase it what would be some good ways to u know shift, stay on the track and spray without sending my car into the rails? What do u actually think a 100 shot would do for me...? a 150 shot...? a 200 shot...? and a 250 shot...? which would melt the heads and which should i be safe at and just any helpful ideas or pointers would help. Thx alot, Mooley
my friend blew up his stock 4.6 in a gt with a 250 shot ( he wasnt very smart) and they raplaced the whole motor under the warranty but ford checked it out pretty hard. worked for him though, as far as how much to use on a stock car, i think im going with just a simple 100 shot , wont hurt it, and you dont have near as much to worry about as far as rear ends, the motor, and traction, not that you wont hace traction problems , but you will have less problems with a 100 shot then a 200 shot
why risk it stick with a 100
why risk it stick with a 100
It took 2 seconds off my caprice
I am the track results he is talking about.. and the motor is stock. Good ol' stock Iron heads flowin better
Well I don't know much about LS1's but after many of my friends seeing the TNT Kit in action on my car, I think I should be a salesman for TNT!
But honestly, it was A M A Z I N G...
Previous best of 14.695 (hail mary shot) and 14.7 consistant, I only got 1 run in at the track and ran a 12.7@109 without tuning the car for some other changes.. and horrible 60's.. When I put my slicks on.. ooh man.. I should be grabbing some very low 12s!
Car weighs 45-4600#'s too, Had full tank and my fat *** in it.

I'd have to agree with the FORDs SUCK statement. I've got several friends who run 5.0s (worthy of respect). But Ford is turning out to be like wine... some years are good and others not. I haven't been impressed with the 4.6 2-Valve at all. After 2000, Jack Nasser used to run Ford and tried to keep the profits by going to lesser quality parts.
Neighbor is a lifelong Ford nut. His wife has a 1997 Ford Taurus, and his daughter bought a 2001 Ford Taurus... he brought that to me and the rubber for the canister purge was already rotting through, the injector seals had to be replaced, plus the list goes on and on... cheap parts. Ford used to sell a car that was affordable and get you on the parts, now they just suck (after 2000).
Too bad, I like the idea of a V8 rivalry... plus we team up on the 4-bangers out there.
LT1s can handle 150 stock and LS1s about 125 stock MAX! I would not go over that on stock hypereutechtic pistons... you will crush a ring land. Be conservative and no more than 100. Plus, your rear will need help because of the direct transfer of power on the M6.
Go with 100...
Build your rear or replace with a 12-bolt
Build your tranny
Build your engine to a N2O 383 and go with a 250 dual stage...

Wild1 some good points there... I don't plan on running the 150 shot much on the car, it really seemed to like it though but it won't be long before I lose a piston!
Over the winter hopefully forged crank, piston and some head work done, and I'll try a 200 or 250 shot and say hello low 11s...
My rear end is stock though except gears and a burned out stock auburn posi (eww)... the real test is going to be the next few days I gunna run some slicks and we'll see if the rear end and tranny can handle it

If it was an Eaton Posi, I'd suggest freshening it up. But since it is an Auburn, no rebuild kits are available... disposable unit. Before you stress it, make sure you can afford to build it up or a 12-bolt... or you may be down for a while.
Wild1 the car has already pleased me majorly this year, and she is going out of commission through the winter by my hand if not on her own before hand....
I have a few ideas in my head that I want to try over the winter and rebuild it...
Yeah I am going to go with an eaton unit because I know about the stock auburn units being like 2 cones... and theres quite a bit of metal shaving in it
but oh well...
If she blows, she blows and gets towed back
