specific headgasket for n20

Built a 355 set up for nitrous and just need to know if there is a specific headgasket i should run? a part number would be great. Also was wondering if the sbc arp head studs will work on the lt1? or is there an lt1 specific batch?

Lots of people have leaks using studs on LT1's. I can't think of why the LT1 would differ from any other SBC in that regard, but it has been commonly reported (do a search). How much nitrous do you plan to run? The FelPro 1074 was fine on mine with >20psi + 200hp shot, so it should be fine for you.

I'm also using the FelPro 1074 without any problems but you
might check out the COMETIC head gaskets. They claim
you do not need to o-ring the block/heads even under
high boost w/nitrous applications....prevent water
leaks also.

I hear the finish on the block/heads has to be really good for them to seal properly. No necessarily a bad thing, but if you already have everything out of the machine shop.

if you get studs the block must be finished honed with a torque plate and studs, studs distort the cylinder walls greatly besause they have a much higher clamping force than bolts.

if you use a Cometic you must have the head and block surfaced just for them, and be very clean when assembled.

to be honest though, as long as everything is square, a standard performance gasket like the 1074 will hold unless your going to spray above 400+ hp.

When do you recommend heads studs over head bolts?
