Some mustangs to pick on..

Well I raced my friends 5.0 with bolt-ons and basically whooped the hell out of her. She claims to have a friend with a 5.0 that is cammed with a 306 or something that runs a 13 flat. My brother will give me his NX wet kit and I was wanting to know what I need to do for a 50-75 shot for my car? I have a MadZ28 tune as well as NGK-TR55 plugs and stock fuel pump. Thanks!!

Heck with the 50 shot. Alot of people have their setups jetted in the 100-150 range. I would look into getting a Mallory 685 ignition box that has a window switch and timing retard feature. Considering you have a PCM tune and depending on the amount you want to spray, you will want to pull some timing while the nitrous system is activated. Also, one step colder plugs such as the NGK TR-6s, an upgraded fuel pump, a fuel pressure safety switch, a bottle heater, and a purge valve are all beneficial as well. If you do decide to stay with a small 50 shot, then you may be okay with your current plugs and fuel pump.

Should he not consider getting a new tune regardless of his shot size since the tune he currently has probably advanced some timing?

If he runs the 685 or equivilent he can retard the timing on spar

example the new tune advanced the timing 2*...use the 685 to retard the timing 2-4* and you will net stock to 2* retard.

I am currently using a MSD digital 6 to pull 4* for a 150 shot, and an aggressive tune for NA driving

Having your timing advance on a naturally aspirated motor on the streets is a good thing, therefore, you don't want to pull the timing back out. With the Mallory box, you get the best of both worlds. You can run your advanced timing on the streets when your motor is off the spray and when the nitrous is activated, the Mallory box will pull the desired amount of timing to avoid any detonation issues.

If you run the Digi6 with nitrous do you need to have the computer tuned for the nitrous?? I assume you can just pull the timing out with the digi6??

Yes, he mentions that he has the Digi6 pulling timing while spraying. Then for his NA application, he keeps an aggressive tune which most likely has a decent amount of advanced timing.

Awesome, this is some good information. I appreciate it very much I more than likely stay with a 75 shot just to spare my transmission and motor. I gotta drive this thing to and from Texas to Oklahoma.
