Solenoids clicking
Solenoids clicking
I went to my friends house after he hooked up his nitrous. when he was testing the solenoids, they began to click... but the clicking was constant.... When he put power to the solenoids it sounded likc they were clicking on and off on and off... Is that sound right? what could be wrong?
Re: Solenoids clicking
Does he have a progressive controller hooked up? A FPSS? How did you guys activate it? Like with a WOT switch or were you holding a wire to the battery?

Re: Solenoids clicking
If you have constant power to them and do not have a controller on them check the following.Check the ground. If it has a fuel pressure saftey switch it may need adjusting. It should not steadly click off and on under constant power.

Re: Solenoids clicking
Its hooked up to a wot switch. it has a fpss. It does not have a progressive contoller. We tested it by revving it up and hitting the switch while the nozzle was out of the intake, we did see the nitrous and fuel spray out, every thing looks good except for the constant clicking when the solenoids are on. I checked my NX solenoids to see if mine did it but they do not.

Re: Solenoids clicking
possably a bad wot switch, or a bad fpss.bypass the fpss and see if it stops clicking, if it does its that, if not it could be the wot switch, a bad ground, your power supply alot of things. track back all your wireing and make sure its all kosher too!! hope this helps.

What 97SS0594 said.
I would by-pass the FPSS and re-test it. If that dosn't resolve the issue then check out the ground and power, and then the WOT switch. Is there a window switch? If so, when your friend reved it up to the RPM the window switch is set at, could he have hung at that RPM (or around) causing the system to turn on and off? Shot in the dark but it's happened before.

Re: Solenoids clicking
Before you bypass the FPSS make sure to adjust it first. I had the same problem with mine and it just needed to be adjusted. I was about to throw it away cause alot of people were telling me the same thing, but it just needed some adjusting.
Re: Solenoids clicking
True. I usually tell people to by-pass them just to see if it's the root of the problem or not, and then take it from three. I should have been more clear.

Re: Solenoids clicking
IMO, you should pull the vacuum line from the regulator, THEN adjust the FPSS.
IMO you wouldn't want the nitrous to spray at fuel pressures as low as idle. I've got my FPSS set to turn off at about 40 psi for maximum safety.
When I first installed mine, I just adjusted by guessing and at idle the solenoids would click on and off, so I raised the minimum pressure to above the idle pressure, but low enough that they would run with the line off (and at WOT) and it's working great now.
