Should I Run Nitrous

Well I have a 96 Z28 M6 with about 90k on it. Just rebuilt my rear and have a 58mm throtle body, Full exhaust, Shorty Headers, SLP intake, and 4.10 gear. I am getting the LT4 hotcam kit soon and was wondering is it worth running nitrous or will it just destroy my entire engine.

As long as u run all the necessary safety equipment you will be alrite to run nitrous. Read the sticky explaining it all. Also, did u port match ur intake for the 58mm tb?

Alot of people make mistakes by either cutting corners or getting greedy with the jetting. If you don't venture into either of those categories then you should be fine.

Nitrous, actually, with the LT1/LS1 motors, is frequently MORE reliable than supercharging. And your way less likely to spin a bearing on a LT1 running some spray than revving to 6500+ RPM's ...

Now im not saying its easier on things. But if you want to go the fastest, for the least amount of money, the simplest tuning, and one of the more reliable ( With proper tuning on a dyno, watching A/F, detonation, etc.) set ups for building power, then Nitrous is worthwhile.

Most of the people that refuse to run nitrous, are ignorant to the facts of how it works, and why it can be as reliable as it is. Ask them why it blows engines. Ask them any technical question about it, and I bet you hear something 100% dead wrong. My best advise to you is to research, research, research. And dont get greedy on the stock shortblock. An extra 100HP, 100 TQ is a HUGE increase in power. Think of the time, money and effort it would take to build a reliable street motor, all motor that makes that much more power, drives like 100% stock, etc.

Nitrous can and does have its place. Fast street cars, where the power is not used the majority of the time, and budget is a concern, is one of those places.
