Searching for 5.9*'s Is Juice still the way, I need help
I am looking for 5.9*'s, I have run a 6.46@108.28 with a 225 shot on my old motor, the new one basicly the same accept dished pistons instead of flat tops, 6.0in. rods instead of 5.7's, and ported heads, This combo ran 6.58@103(not positive on mph) on a 100 shot.
I have not gone up on the juice up on a single stage as I believe that is what broke the stock block(I now have a motown) but I want to go up my question is
Progressive vs 2 stage what is my best bet for faster time I believe the car has a 5.9* in it, I was looking at leaving on a 100 shot and 125 or 150 at 60 ft. or is the progressive better to bring it up more slowly also would the progressive be easier on the motor since its not "hitting" as hard

There are 2 types of progressive systems on the market- flow in relation to rpm and flow in relation to time.
There would be less initial shock with a progressive system, but I dont think it is worth the risk of hanging a solenoid.
thanks the 2 stage setup is also cheaper, I am getting frustrated I am also looking at a turbosupercharger setup but havent made my mind up yet

If you go progressive you should run 2 sets of solenoids - Pulse one set a have the other set inline as backup. You dont have to worry about one of the pulsed solenoids hanging open, 'course there's still a chance one might stick closed...
i used the NX Maximizer (older style,not new palm pilot setup) and gained 2-3/10's with the 150 shot i was running.
Interestingly enough,when i stepped up to the 175,the progressie hurt the car more then it helped. i wound up just using the controller as a time delay for .2's before the 175 would come in full tilt.

the "old" maximizer is an all digital pushbutton setup. i never used the NOS controller,but i see it has dials.
the NX is a time based setup,with adjustability to delay,shut off early,maximum starting percentage,and WOT percentage,with time ramps to build to final setting (which may or may not be 100%,depending on application).
It does this by Pulsing the solenoids,beating the hell out of them over time. I have been very happy with it,but im selling (already spoken for) and going to a direct port with a big shot. I will probably use the DFI to play with timing to get it to hook when the time comes.
