Safe to Run NOS on Stock LT1

I was wondering if it is safe to run A DynoTune kit on my stock LT1. I am just going to run a 75 shot for now and then increase it when I get my rebuild kit and LE1 Package. The only thing I am worried about is it is a High Mileage Engine. It is in impressive condition and runs like it is brand new. The only mods I have is an open exhaust (No muffler) and a De-Screened MAF. The Tranny is an A4 that is about 6 months old and my car is a 1995 Trans-AM. What do you guys think?

I think that while there is no way to predict how any particular engine will react to nitrous, the general consensus is that 75hp is safe for pretty much any stock V8, provided it's not already a smoker, you buy a quality kit and you follow the directions.

I have installed nitrous on high milage motors with customers request.Do a compression test.If it is low I would not spray it.If all the cylinders are ok then it should be ok.Also base your opinion on how well the car has been maintained over the years. What are you concidering high milage?

High Milage is 180K The car has been immaculately upkept and maintained. Runs and looks brand new. The previous owner was an older lady that had it speacial ordered from the plant. I still have all of the stuff including window sticker manual.......But the thing is it runs great and the engine performs great. The lady never ragged on it by the looks of things.

Man,Thats alot of miles.Even if it has been well maintnenced. The rings may or may not take it.Iwould only spray if you can afford the rebuild.

Well Dave I am going to be rebuilding the motor fully with an LE1 Head/Cam package and a rebuild kit with forged pistons here in the next few months. I just want something to help me out for now.

I believe a 75 shot will do you nicely. Who knows, you may even feel comfortable at 100. If you plan on rebuilding anyways, why not go for it?
