Race, using nitrous. Advice needed.

I am due to race a turbo spraying swapped 91 integra.

I am intending on running a drag radials with a 100 shot of nitrous oxide. I ran a 13.9 before would it be possible to break into the 12 second barrier on a good day?

I am not sure what kind of performance I can expect from nitrous.

if you have proper traction and 100 shot you should be able to run a 12, are you going to spray out of the hole?

I wasn't really sure what the best route would be, I didn't think I'd have a very easy time hooking up if I sprayed from the hole.

Have you ever sprayed before? On a drag radials (probably 16", right?), I'd suggest waiting till you're about 60-100' out of the hole before hitting the switch.

Once you install the spray, go out and practice your launches. Go from a stop after you heat up the DRs and then from a roll , etc etc...

I think you'll be ok and you should definately run a high 12 !
You never know with those modified imports...some are 14 seconds and some are 11 second cars...

good luck.

Bad thing about the spray, if you aren't hooking and lift to get traction it will kick off your nitrous if you have a wot switch. Another good reason to be all motor.

Re: Race, using nitrous. Advice needed.

Two cars I had with nitrous and results... 1979 trans am with street built 455 went 13.03 without the bottle and went 11.72 with the bottle. 150hp shot of Z Top Gun nitrous (now known as nitrous express) 1989 mustang 5.0 went 12.8 without bottle and went 11.59 with it. 150hp shot of NOS brand nitrous. I sprayed both right out of the gate. The t/a had m&h racemasters and an automatic with 3:73 gears and the stang had slicks with a 5 speed and 4:30 gears. I gotta tell ya the 5,000 rpm launch on the bottle in the mustang was the craziest thing I ever experienced! It was not very nice on the parts though!!! Hope this helps. You'll probably find that you wont want to spray it till you hit 2nd if its a stick or 60-100 ft out (as previously recomended) if its an auto. You'll be shocked how fast the rpm's climb.
As a side note I found the owner of Z Top Gun (Nitrous Express) to be extremly helpful and would highly recommend their kit.

So you would rather it keep spraying when you lift? Your statement makes no sense.

No I'm saying if you don't hook and you have to lift when it kicks off the nitrous you'll get traction but can bog. My buddy with his ls1 has this problem all the time(mainly talking about racing on the streets).

Re: Race, using nitrous. Advice needed.

i raced a turbo GSR...it was a 92..running i think 7 or 8lbs of boost..i sprayed a 100 shot and absolutely destroyed him..(by about 14 cars)...i have it on camera if you want to see.. this was in my last trans am...shortie headers, exhaust,intake,msd,nitrous...that was about it...and he didnt stand a chance...i raced another turbo integra in the car i have now..no nitrous...and beat him..however.... ....i raced an 87 hatchback civic..with nitrous and turbo last weekend in my n/a trans am...im not going to get into the rest of the story..but you (if you can drive) will be fine.

He means when you don't hook you let off and the rest of the run is without nitrous. Your 400hp beast just droped to 300, where as an all motor car just lets off the gas a second and bam back to the floor with all 400 horses

Say what? Nitrous cars are either controlled by a delay box or a window switch. Either one would come back on.

Yep it would come back on, but your still down a lot of power until you can hook.

I'm trying to understand this. If your already rolling, why can't you hook when the nitrous kicks in? Jusy asking, I have no experience with it.
