questions about nitrous restrictions (hardware)

How big of a shot can be supported by a -4 line? where does the stock bottle valve max out before you have to switch to a high flow. how often should a nitrous filter be changed? thank you.

The "standard" NOS 10# bottle comes with their "Hi-Flo" valve. I've sprayed 300HP - as measured at the flywheel, on an engine dyno - with that valve. The NOS upgrade is called the "Super Hi-Flo", and flow more than 2.5X the Hi-Flo valve, according to NOS. Don't know the limits of a -4AN line... I use a -6AN for the main nitrous line.

what is the bigggest shot anyone here is running on a -4?

NOS uses diffrent valves then NX the NX does is high flow to my understanding.

I am in the process of finding out exactly what an NX kit will do. I have spent quite some time on the dyno and could not make any more than 175 to the rear wheels. It seems to lay down after that. I have spent some time on the phone with NX and they want me to do a flow test to see if I am having a restriction problem. The fuel side is not a problem on my car. I will keep you posted. I am leaning towards the feed line but it could be my motor wont ingest any more than 175.

Michael

BTW didn't we meet at Ennis about a month and half ago. I was with Shawn.

yes the night you ran a 10.7 i think i am trying to make close to 200 more at the wheel and i cannt seem to get it up there. I am replacing the -4 with -6 hope fully this will solve the problem.

there is a point of dimishining returns, basically the heads/intake will only flow so much. ran into this problem with an old mustang, ran the same number whether it was a 150/175 or 200 shot. the induction just couldnt support the airflow. if it was direct port,it might of been different, but it was only single nozzle.

Racin,

I absolutely agree with you. I believe that is the wall I am running into when stepping up to the 200 and above shots. I am about to try a few more tricks up my sleeve, but I am not to optimistic. I will post my results.
