Q for anyone who has polished a nitrous bottle

Just wonder what sandpapers or other materials you used to achieve the finish you wanted? I'm wondering what grit I should start with, and what I should end with.

I stripped the paint off my bottle, and began sanding with a 240 grit. I can't seem to get the brush marks (I guess where they machined the bottle?) out of the metal. Should I go to a lower grit paper? I'm using an electric sander btw.
