Question Progressice NOS COntrollers

I am thinking of getting a NOS system that will be primarily used on the street with either a 100 or 150 shot. I am leaning towards the NX wet system. I understand that some companies make boxes that you can get a progressive shot based on RPM. Does anyone have experience with such a box?

I am also planning on changing out the ignition and would like to find one that automatically retards the timing when the NOS is activated, but leaves the timing stock when off the juice. Any help with options would be appreciated.

Finally, is the stock stock fuel pump sufficient for a 150 shot? My motor is a 383 with CNC proted LT 4 heads/intake, cc306 cam, and 24 lb svo injectors. It has an 11:1 compression ratio.

Thanks

Tim

Well, first things first,im not sure who makes a RPM based progressive controller. I have the NX Maximizer and it's a time based system, which works GREAT for me. I contribute most of my low 11 et's with stock longblock to that box.
As far as something that retards only when you are spraying,i use the MSD Digital 6+. Works great,i have it wired to ONLY pull timing when the nitrous is armed.

As far as fuel pump,i wouldnt run a 75 shot with your engine and a stock pump. At least get a 255 in tank. I wouldnt even spray my stock longblock untill i did a pump swap.......cheap insurance.

The jacobs is rpm based, but I would recommend a timed based unit.

NOS and NX both make nice progressive controllers, but i don't know a whole lot about them. as for the ignition, i have the Mallory Hy-fire VI CD ignition. it has a retard so you can pull timing only when on the nitrous. it also has a built in window switch, start retard, and two rev limiters. it is $219 at summit.

Jacob's nitrous mastermind

I have the Jacob's Nitrous Mastermind & love it. It's RPM base, will pulse the solenoids at the RPM that you dial in & then come on 100% at the 2nd RPM that you dial in.....if you put the 2nd dial lower than the 1st then it'll come on 100% right away. It will also pull out any timing that you would like to pull out. It also has a rev limiter that'll shut off the nitrous before the fuel pulses so as not to go lean.

If your brain is real big...

Design your own nitrous controal system useing radio shack stuff and use a mallory or msd spark box to do all the spark retarding.
It's not hard at all to do if you know alittle about this kind of stuff.

I'm guessing time based is preferred by some of you guys, because in higher gears your ramp up to the full shot would be the same... while an rpm based one would actually ramp up slower and slower in each gear, since rpms climb slower. Correct? Any other reasons?
