Problems after nitrous install

Well I went out to test my nitrous tonight to make sure everything works right, the purge works, heater works, but the nitrous itself is messed up. I went full throttle and turned on the nitrous at 3500 and all the sudden it fell on its face at 4500 RPM's. I have a 100 nitrous jet in and 125 fuel jet in to be safe until I get it on the dyno, but I don't think this would cause that since it pulls hard until 4500 RPM's.

Are you using a fuel pressure safety switch? If so your fuel pressure may be dropping shutting off the system.

What type of spark plugs are you using and what are they gapped at?

I tested the kit on the autolite 106's gapped at .050 just to make sure it worked, and it did it then, so I figured it was just the plugs. Then I put in TR6's and gapped them at .038 and it still does it. It almost feels like it runs out of fuel, or the nitrous cuts off or soemthing like that.

Do you have a RPM window switch? We don't suggest mixing the jets, as the jetting is rich enough. Did you try putting the correct jetting in for the 100 shot?

If you have it jetted really rich, you may be fouling out plugs.

Thats what I figured too, but I stoped and closed the bottle and purged all the nitrous out of the lines, then armed it so it would just spray fuel, and it was breaking up a little bit, but it didn't loose anything close to as much power as I was loosing on spray.

1 more thing, I'm getting some knock retard on my scanmaster when I spray, so I guess I need an ignition box to pull some timing. Could my spark be blowing out on such a small shot?

Re: Problems after nitrous install

Thats what i was getting at when i asked what you were gapped at, but you said you gapped them down. I wouldn't think it would blow out on a 100 shot. You should pull timing if your getting some detonation though. Check the plugs. If there fouling out though, it will fall on its face. I've seen that on the dyno myself. If you can, you could make a quick pass on the spray how your jetted now then immediatly shut it off when you get out of it and pull a plug. You'll know then if you've fouled one out cause it should look pretty nasty right then.

Re: Problems after nitrous install

Just to update the thread, I bypassed the window switch and now it works fine. I guess I just got a bad window switch....
