NOS... need info please

have a 1998 camaro z28 Stage 2 heads, 224/224 .581/.581 lift cam, ls6 intake, 28.8 injectors, custom tuned, headers etc. i was wondering if nitrous was a good idea. also is it true what people say about nitrous that it can blow up engines, burn holes in pistons etc. is nitrous a good aplication for the work i've got done to my car. would i hurt anything inside my engine that i didn't change (crank, connecting rods, pistons etc.) thanks for your time.

Yes it CAN hurt the engine. So could a blower/turbo.

Is it a good application? sure it is. Just make sure you have a good fuel pump, ignition,a way to pull timing if you run a larger shot, and run NON platinum plugs.
With all the safety stuff on the market,it makes it real hard to hurt an engine these days. window switches, fuel pressure safety switches all prevent major damage.
I have run a 150 shot on stock pistons, rods, crank for 1.5 years with no adverse affects.

Nitrous is always a good choice. Yes it can tear things up if you go over kill with it. Most guys generally go with around a 100 shot with no problem on Lt1 and Ls1. I'm currently running a 75 shot and noticed a huge gain, more then a secon in the 1/4.
