Question Nitrous torque converter?

I saw a couple of torque converters that say that they are for nitrous applications. What is the difference between them and regular ones? Also, are they really neccacery(bad spellng) to have when you have nitrous? How many of you guys changed out your converter for a nitrous converter?

Nitrous, when you hit the button, gives you an instant increase in torque, regardless of the rpm. At anything above a 125 shot, the converter really doesn't like being accelerated instantly like that, which can cause the fins to bend or break, the sprag the strip, the housing to actually swell or "balloon" from the internal heat and pressure buildup. This mainly will occur when you try to launch from the line, when the torque multiplication in the converter is at it's highest.
So, to prevent all this carnage, they add
furnace braised fins
hardened sprags
one piece input shafts, hardened
anti- balloon plates front and rear
torrington thrust bearings
and a few other tricks..
Most converter companies will tell you that naawwzz is harder on a converter than a trans brake or a blower, because of the instantaneous loads..
