Nitrous and stall RPM

Whatsup everyone. I just wanted to know what size stall was everyone running with 150 shots and larger. I'm looking to get a vig 3600 but i don't know if thats too much for 150-200 shots. Anybody have any experience with this? It's for a street car 383, ported & polished stockers, 22x/23x cam, and all the other supporting mods.

If it is mostly a street car it will be fine. What are you goals of the converter/combo?

When you say goals I have to assume you're talking about et. I'm shooting for mid 11s on motor and low to mid 10s on spray.

I would reccomend talking with Vigilante so they can get you the correct model for your appllication. You will need to make sure the convertor can handle the pressure created by nitrous and the lock up clutch is strong enough if you plan on locking the convertor at WOT.

There is alot more to a convertor than just the stall speed.

I want to know if I can run a 150 shot with my ati 5200 stall 8inch race converter or will it stall too high?
Any guesses as to how high it will stall and how much slippage I will get on the big end
right now I get 250-300 rpm slippage at the traps
I dont really want to go above 7600 rpm

my goal is 9.70.I am pretty sure with the weight I took out of the car and a better 60ft I can run a 10.40 on motor so I am hoping a 150 shot will give me 0.7 more

I would contact ATI as they will know what nitrous will do to the convertor you have better than I will. The extra power will increase stall speed and slippage, but I am not sure how much.

I run a 3000 stall works good on the street and at the track. Going up to a 3400. If you do it you should get one with a anti ballooning plate to help with conv ballooning when on the spray. Custom conv. is def the way to go. Try Edge conv they do alot with mustangs but they also make them for chry. and chev. too. They know what thier talking about.

^ Agree. Give Edge converters a call and they'll custom build to your specs. 5200 stall is pretty huge for the bottle.

Just talk to whoever you are buying your converter threw (I recommend Yank) and let them know that the car is a nitrous car and tell them what you plan on spraying the car with and they will lead you in the right direction.

i spoke with the folks at precision industries and they recommended a 3200 fro my upcoming 383 & 200 shot since it is a street strip car.
