Nitrous questions!!! need help please!!!

ok im thinking about buying a NX wet kit to spray on my car. (ALL stock motor, trans, and rear-end 97 w/90k miles) 150 shot is how much i will be spraying

What other things might i need to upgrade when i put the kit on.

The kit:
NX wet kit
10 lb bottle
bottle heater
purge valve
window switch
full throttle switch (sprays from 3000 rpms to 5800 rpms)
100, 125, and 150 nossles
and a few other goodies.

I am going to upgrade the full pump before i spray the 150 shot to a walbro 255. what else might i look at????

spark plugs??, plug wires??? anything else

Thanks
Scott

Re: Nitrous questions!!! need help please!!!

Get NGK TR-6 Spark plugs, some people run a fuel pressure safety switch that cuts off the nitrous if the fuel drops to unsafe levels, make sure and have a bottle guage on so you can try and keep the bottle pressure at around 900-950 psi.....other than that I think you pretty much have everything covered. Good luck with it...I'm gonna need it too, because I am trying out nitrous for the first time on my car this upcoming spring.

oh yeah i forgot to mention that.

i have a safety switch that turns the system off if the pressure drops too low. and yes i am getting a bottle guage so i can tell to see what psi its at. i forgot to mention that too.

so new plugs........what about wires???
what about anything in the engine????

Just make sure everything is running good.....if you have a misfire than I wouldn't reccomend nitrous until you get it fixed. If your wires show any signs that they are bad then replace them, but if they are still good then it isn't necessary. 1 thing you may want to consider is a hard (Trick flow or Vortech) intake elbow, because it makes the nozzles more sturdy when you mount em and the stocker elbow has a tendency to rip sometimes. Thats really all I can think of that you may need.

You could run tr6's (they are fine) but I just replaced mine with the new NGK iridium plugs that colder as well.

Also, 150 shot you probably will break something eventually, more then likely rear will go. I'd start at 50 shots till you are used to it, work your way up. On my car, I use 100 shots MAX on the street anything more there is no traction and it is just plain dangerous. Save the 150 shot for the track with slicks and built drivetrain.

Don't do what I did once and hit a 100 shot on street tires when the road conditions are 100%, you'll swap ends real quick it's scary at 60mph. So, just be careful on the street the nitrous hit sometimes will not hook on the street with street tires, take it easy on the roads. Progressive controller would be nice...........

i am going to keep running stock tires, so i wont break the rear end. do you still think it will go even if i keep running stock tires?????

i will probably start out with a 50 shot and go up in increments of 25, but i think the rear end should be fine as long as i dont get DR's or something that will hook really well.

Re: Nitrous questions!!! need help please!!!

well, I have a manual so with the clutch dumps it can be alot worse on the rear then a auto, I assume you have an auto right?? However, I have broken 2 stock rears with a 100 shot. One I broke at the track with ET streets and stock clutch. After I broke that rear I got a used stock rear and put that in and upgraded to a street twin clutch because the stocker was slipping (again, because of nitrous abuse). Then, on street tires with a street twin the stock rear I put in I broke it again. So I said screw this and bought a strange 12 bolt, .

You should be OK if you take it easy though, just remember the rears aren't that strong on our cars.
