Nitrous Prep

I am getting ready to purchase a nitrous kit and install it on my car. I am looking at a 125 hp shot and i have 108k miles. Yes a lot of miles but the car is running great. My question is, what can i do to prep my car into reciving a boost?

tow truck

if you dont have AAA make sure you have the number of a good tow truck company. on a stock engine with that many miles its almost cruel to put that much juice through it. do your self and your insurance company a favor, get a higher LPH fuel pump and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and get the hang of tunning it with the 80 shot befor you kill your engine. or you could just put the 125 shot on and entertain all the people at the track with a big fricken nitrous backfire.

I would say to definitely get a good in tank pump. I would also suggest getting a window switch as well.

I had a few nitrous backfires and they all could have been prevented with the window switch (I have one with my new setup).

Good Luck

it'll live IF YOUR SAFE ABOUT IT. I hope your using a wet kit, I don't trust dry kits.

mentioned above, get another inline fuel pump and a window switch. I have seen high mileage Lt1's spraying 150 shots on stock motors, but these guys only last about a year or so. Stick with a 100 shot.

i'm using a NX wet plate system with a 150 shot and no problems. and my car is completly stock. i just recently installed some mods in it but will work fine even with stock fuel pump. i suggest u keep eye on air/fuel ratio and do go lean.

I would suggest also running a colder spark plug. I run the ngk tr6's and some people run the autolites too. Make sure you don't have platnum plugs in, that is a no no with nitrous.

I think it's that thing that activates your Nitrous at a certain RPM... like a safe guard... is that correct???

Funny I used to have nitrous....

bottom line,if you run a 150 shot with a stock pump, you are asking for trouble.

window switchs turns the nitrous on and off at preset rpm's,to keep from spraying too low,and spraying through shifts.

also get a colder plug,ngk tr6 OR autolite 104.

A Fuel Pressure Safety Switch would be a good investment also.

For plugs I run the Autolite 104's and haven't had any trouble.
