Nitrous line question

Hey guys,

I am looking for a quick answer on this. I am building a frankenstein nitrous system, I would like braided stainless lines to run from the solenoids to the plate.

I have noticed NOS and Nitrous Works use swedged braided lines. Is it ok to use compression fittings lik you would get from Aeroquip?

Thanks guys!

Re: Nitrous line question

What kind of pressure can the compression fittings handle? You'll be dealing with up to 1200 psi max as a general rule.

That is kind of what I am trying to figure out. Then again, they use these fittings for brake applications which I would imagine to be as demanding if not moreso.

I didn't realize they use compression fittings for brake applications. I assumed that brake setups used swedged connectors.

Yes the Aeroquip teflon hose steel fittings are acceptable.

Re: Nitrous line question

for something critical like this, I would see if they list the specs on the manufacturer website.

If not, I'd call the tech support and ask them whats the max rated PSI for the fitting you want to use.

Re: Nitrous line question

I was looking at doing this myself and in my looking around I believe I found that they were rated at 3000 or 3500psi. Double check for yourself to be sure. But they are definitly enough to hold.

Brian

brake line fittings sould be rated well over what should be required for nitrous (pressure wise). Although, as Brian said should not try and cut corners just to find the cheapest deal. I've looked at regular compression fittings for brakes and also for nitrous and found that the ones for brake lines arnt as v-shaped as the nitrous ones are... meaning they come to a point... its hard to explain on here. I wish i could show you pictures but it seems to me that nitrous fittings made by Earl and Aeroquip are much better at sealing. Spend the extra it takes to buy quality stuff. Last thing you want is a compression fitting for the fuel line to leak and cause a fire.

Re: Nitrous line question

We offer custom length pre made lines (-3 through -8) in a few color options. I've built a online tool that will give you a quote based on the lenth you need.
