Nitrous and Ignition set-up
Nitrous and Ignition set-up
Going to wire my mallory 685 box into the car this week-end. I have the #8876 msd harness to hook it up. I will be using it for my nitrous set-up. Is there any way to hook the box up so it is only on when the nitrous is armed and use the stock ignition when the system is off.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Well, for hard wiring it, I don't think there is a way. However, you can unplug the MSD harness and then plug the factory harness back into the coil if you want to run on the stock ignition and vice versa if you want the aftermarket box when spraying. However, as long as you do a good wiring job with the box, it isn't going to cause you any problems on the street. I would just leave it hooked up all the time.
So how will the box know when to pull timing when I am on the spray. Along with the window switch. Do you wire these functions into the solenoild so when it gets power the timing wil be pulled and the window switch armed.
The window switch feature provides a ground, so that can be connected to the ground of the main nitrous relay. The timing retard uses a 12V source which I pull off the activation side of the nitrous relay, when the relay sends 12 volts to the solenoids, then timing retard then activates.
yes...it will pull timing only when the kit is activated...there is a trigger wire that wil tell the box when to pull timing. There is another wire that will control the nitrous sytem via the rpm window
