Re: nitrous ignition ???
no you dont have to upgrade the ignition........just get tr6 spark plugs and make sure your opti, and spark plug wires are in a good condition. You will also want a window switch which is sorta ignition related I guess.
Re: nitrous ignition ???
You're right by calling it a "safety switch." The window switch will activate the nitrous at a preset rpm, and then turn it off, and another pre-set higher rpm. By using it the nitrous system will only function within that certain "window" of the rpm range..... For example, you can set it to turn the nitrous on at 3000, and when the rpm's hit 6000, have it turn it off. This is an excellent safegaurd, and prevents the nitrous system from being activated at too low an rpm, and prevents it from being active if you over-rev the engine.
Re: nitrous ignition ???
MeanSBC is right a window switch is a must its oo cheap and can save you from a big time blow up, but if you want to get something good get the Mallory 685 box it has a window switch ,timing retard, 2 stage rev limiter and boosts your spark all for $220!
its the best reliable bang for the buck by far,
it's small and instead of having a msd window switch box , timing retard box and the a ing box you have it all in one.

Re: nitrous ignition ???
You don't need an ignition upgrade, stock opti on almost 200 shot here. There are some benefits you may wish to consider on the previously mentioned control box.
You should consider one or more of the following: race gas, retarding the timing, and colder plugs on the larger shot size, depending on your intentions with the car on spray.
