Nitrous Freeze!!! WTF!

I tested out the nitrous kit my friend installed for me today. We didn't fully finish cuz we have the MSD window switch placed and wires ran but not connected. The ground was connected, but that caused the fuel solenoid not to come on, so I bypassed it with another connection to the ground from the relay. Also the FPSS didn't work, so I had to put both connections on one side. Both Nitrous and Fuel solenoid clicked when the WOT switch connected. I decided it was time to do a little test. I had my drags on hoping I would get to go to the track. I did a run without N20 to get the feel of car with drags before I spray. I then did a run spraying did one without then one with and slowly approached a light. All of sudden car shaked a little then "check gauges" light came on and the car shutoff. Not good I'm thinking at this point. I waited a few seconds and tried to turn the car back on and it did with a big rev and then it immediately shut down. I then noticed that the foot pedal was super hard. Now that I think about it the pedal was hard when the car decided to shutoff. I then popped the hood and to my amazement the directflo lid, throttle body, the hose between the lid and throttle was covered in ICE! I was standing there in shock then I realized I have my camera in the car. I took a few snaps, but the direct flo lid already defrosted. I will post the pics tomorrow when I get to work. At this point I'm like ok I just screwed up my car then I shut the bottle. Thank God that wasn't true. I waited til the car defrost and it started up but with a loud rev again...
It drove fine and I gunned it and played with it to make sure I didn't screw up anything. Turned it off and back on and the loud rev disappeared.Car running like nothing happened. I'm guessing my friend and or the bs bypasses we temporarily did caused the nitrous solenoid to stay open.

It sounds like 2 things happenned:
1. You forgot to put the nitrous jet in allowing the full solenoid and hose rating of nitrous to come out.
2. Your nitrous solenoid activated when you weren't expecting it to.

Basically you were injecting nitrous into your car without the additional gas - that was what the high rev was - additional uncontrolled oxygen (N2O).

My friend actually plugged in the jets, so I was thinking he put them in reversed possibly. Going to have another friend of mine...someone I should have gone to in the first place rewire the install.

Thats crazy, I wouldn't worry to much about the motor since your throttle body was probably closed not much of the nitrous got in and probably bleed off back threw the lid, hense why it was frosted.

I took pictures, but none of them came out. I was so pissed. I waited an hour for them to get developed and only 3 pics came out of the whole film. TIME TO GET A DIGITAL CAM!!!

i agree.

now, if you had tried to keep the car running when it tried to cut off, and tapped the throttle a few times, you prolly would have been going home on a roll back.

NEVER "BS" or "half-***" stuff when it comes to N2O.
