Nitrous basic set up?

I'm looking to buy (soon, not now) a basic nitrous system for my LT1. I'm leaning more and more toward wet. I would like to have a 125-150 shot. Preferably 150. I don't want to buy some crazy kit that comes with everything, and most websites don't help me make up my mind.

I keep seeing LT1/LS1 wet kits, but they say you need to adjust fueling to use it on the LT1. I want that aspect taken care of in the initial purchase and setup.

I was looking at the Zex wet kit, because of the simplistic aspect, as I want to piece it together as I go. (but it's for LS1/Lt1 and ^^^^^)

Any suggestions?

Are these supposed to be the same thing?

http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog...product_id=802

http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog...&product_id=68

Can someone tell me the difference? ...there's not enough detail for me to see... but these are what I'm looking for.

One says no other modifications required, I take that with a grain of salt, but nitro daves version doesn't claim this. Is this for safety/legal reasons? So they don't get blamed for failure? Perhaps someone from this company can shed some light ...wink, wink

The 2 kits you have linked are basically the same, just different manufacturers. Both kits will come with the jetting for both LS1 and LT1 fuel pressure.

We also have the Brand X line, which will support up to 200hp where the NX and the Nitrous Outlet kits will max flow 300+

Feel free to give me a call and I will be happy to go over all the different options with you.

Thanks,
Ray

I have a kit similar to that in your second link, only difference being is that mine has two nozzles instead of one. You will find that those wet kits are just as simple to install as the Zex dry kit that you were looking at as well. As for other manufacturers stating no other modifications needed, take that how you want. You already know that to safely spray, there are those dreaded extra expense add-ons, but those are what will protect your engine. There is a good sticky that goes over these. Stick with Nitro Dave (Nitrous Outlet), I bought my kit and all the accessories from them, there are great to deal with.

IMO you need to rethink your approach to this nitrous thing...you say you want to spray a 150hp shot but dont want to run anything to protect your motor...like fpss, window switch, retard timing, etc.....if im reading it correctly

Adding nitrous to a motor is just like any other hardcore modification. It needs to be thought through. Types of kits, additional supporting mods, safety options, parts costs, ability to install all of these things AND properly tuning the car, all need to be considered.

I don't believe there exists a truely "bolt-on" kit as they all require some creativity and good mechanical skills as well as a lot of common sense in order to install and use properly. There are many fast nitrous LT-1's, but none of them accomplished that without following all the necessary steps to get there. Historically, most "good" LT-1 nitrous set-ups cost upwards of $1000 (or more) by the time you are done.

Take the advice and call Nitro Dave's as you will not find a better company to deal with.

thanks for all the input. I know what I need and what I'm going to run I just want to do it in small increments. If I try to save up all the money and buy everything all at once then something will come up magically and I'll have to use the money there.

Here I was thinking I found the brand X one. What's the deal? The nitrous oulet one and the brand X one...... they look so similar on my phone. Didn't even notice that they were different brands... I thought brand x WAS nitrous outlets brand.

What's the deal there? Am I retarded? How retarded?

And do you have a link to the Brand X version of these basic kits?

This isn't my first nitrous experience either. I've had it on my GTP, I just don't know much about LT1 kits.

If you had it on your GTP its not much different then a LTX kit, Sure nitrous is a so called "Cheap for the power" mod, but theres much more to look at then just a basic kit, what kind of kit did you run on your GTP, Wet Dry?

I'm curious, how did you have the nitrous setup on your GTP. Was it a direct port after the supercharger, or a nozzle before? I was toying with the idea of putting nitrous on my GTP as well.

here is a link to the Brand X kits.

Here are the differences between the Nitrous Outlet and Brand X systems.
1) Bottle valve. The Nitrous Outlet bottle has 2 built in pressure ports the Brand X does not.
2) Solenoids. The Nitrous Outlet kit comes with 400hp solenoids with integrated purge ports. The Brand X have a max flow of 200hp.
3) Nozzle. Nitrous Outlet uses a 1/8 nozzle and it will flow 250hp. Brand X has a 1/16 nozzle and will flow 200hp.

Those are the major differences between the 2 Nitro Daves systems. Both Nitrous Outlet and Brand X are Nitro Dave's companies.

I had the Zex dry kit on my GTP. Worked perfectly. 75 shot dropped me 8 tenths in back to back runs.

The jet installed into the throttle body after the screen but before the tb blade. I had a DHPv1 at the time and it never upped my timing so I didn't worry about pulling any. I didn't have ANY safety stuff at the time... I knew it was dumb, but I didn't care then either. A motor swap was welcomed and it only takes 6 hours to do one on those cars with a cherry picker and hand tools.

I saw that last night after I posted, but I was wondering what the final price is going to be. If I had the money, I'd buy it right now, but I can't muster it up quick enough and I know the intro pricing won't last much longer according to Dave in that thread. How much WILL it be?

Also before I even spray I'm going to get a FPSS and a window switch. Maybe a mallory 685 to pull timing too.

On the bright side, the Mallory box has a window switch as a built-in feature as well. The FPSS by itself isn't very expensive either. You could always consider a Gen X2 upgrade as well which has the purge valve, FPSS, blow down tube, and some other odds and ends down the road as well.
